Important Update for Our U.S. Customers: Changes to Import Duties

Dear U.S. Customers,

We want to be fully transparent with you about upcoming changes that may affect your orders from Cool Gaming Stuff.

What’s Changing?

Until now, most parcels shipped to the U.S. valued under $800 entered duty-free under what’s known as the “de minimis exemption.”

However, starting August 29, 2025, the U.S. government is removing this exemption for all countries. This means that all international shipments, regardless of value, may now be subject to import duties and taxes.

What Does This Mean for You?

  • Custom Gaming Items (like keyrings, plaques, collectibles): These products usually fall into categories that are subject to percentage-based duties (typically 5–10% of the product’s value).

    • Example: A $20 keyring may incur around $1–$2 in duty, not $80.

  • High-Volume Imports (clothing, textiles, electronics): These are the categories most at risk of flat-fee tariffs (e.g., $80+). Since our store doesn’t sell these, we expect our items will remain in the % duty range, making them much more affordable to import.

  • Customs Processing: Even if duties are low, U.S. Customs may add processing fees or delays, especially in the early months of the transition.

What We’re Doing

  • We’re working with our shipping providers to explore Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) options, which would allow us to collect duties at checkout so you don’t get surprise fees at delivery.

  • We will clearly label product listings to remind U.S. customers about possible import charges.

  • We’re staying up-to-date with official customs resources to make sure your parcels are classified correctly.

What You Can Do

  1. Be aware that import duties may now apply to your order.

  2. Consider ordering multiple items together, as duties are often easier to manage on consolidated shipments.

  3. If you have questions about specific products, feel free to reach out to us—we’re here to help.

Final Reassurance

We value our U.S. customers deeply—you’re a huge part of our community. While these changes are outside our control, we’re committed to making the process as smooth as possible and to keeping our unique, custom gaming creations accessible to you.

Thank you for your continued support, and for being part of the Cool Gaming Stuff family.
